International Mission
Japan

With our international mission to Japan in the summer of 2025, we aim to bring our Emergence vision to life on a global stage.

By sparking conversations through art, we aim to rediscover common ground in a world where the gap in understanding complex technologies continues to grow.

As part of the mission we will exhibit our installation Coexist at different locations in Japan, with a highlight of curating a full day at the World Expo in Osaka!

Coexist is the result of artistic research on quantum technology by Emergence Delft and is the artwork that we will bring to Japan. This life-sized, multidimensional installation translates key principles of quantum physics such as superposition and the measurement problem into an immersive experience. Coexist stimulates discussion and reflection on our own society and the role of quantum technology in it.

HTDX mission

22nd of May 2025

Together with Quantum Delta NL, we’re proud to be part of the Economic Mission on High Tech and Digitalization. Our team had the honor of showcasing our quantum-inspired art installation Coexist during the Hightech and Digitalization Conference at the Hilton Osaka.

A special highlight was presenting Coexist to King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands. It was a major achievement for us as a student team to discuss the future of quantum technology at such an important event. A big thank you to everyone that was there for all the interesting conversations and discussions.

Knowledge Capital

May 2025 - July 2025

A two-month exhibition at Knowledge Capital gives our quantum-inspired art installation, Coexist, the stage it was created for.

Located in the heart of Osaka, Knowledge Capital is a vibrant hub where science, technology and art come together. It is situated at Osaka central station, and therefore it attracts a broad and curious public, making it an ideal setting for meaningful encounters. Admission is free, making it accessible to a wide audience.

This exhibition bridges the two key moments of our mission: it connects the HTDX-mission with our curated day at the World Expo. In doing so, it ensures a continuous presence in Japan and extends our impact across audiences and events.

World Expo

24th of July 2025

We have been given the amazing chance to curate a full day at the World Expo in Osaka by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At the Expo we will showcase our work and ideas to an international audience, contributing to a larger conversation about our common future.

As part of our program at the Netherlands Pavilion, we are organizing two unique panel discussions that bring together experts in technology, art and science communication from Japan and the Netherlands.

The World Expo in Kansai, Osaka is a global event that brings together the latest developments, ideas, and innovations from around the world. It’s a space for exchange, inspiration, and collaboration. We believe that art regarding emerging technologies is a very important part of this. That makes the World Expo a very good place to showcase our work and vision.

Both the Expo’s theme of “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” and this year’s Dutch theme “Common Ground” align closely with what Emergence is about. Our work aims to stimulate reflection and discussion on emerging technologies. How can we make sure that technological advancements find a beneficial place in our society?
